In honor of John Dressler, Rosemarie Dressler and Steve Dressler along with the South Shore Rotary, created a scholarship fund for students with cancer to help them achieve their educational career goals.
Over the years, funds for these scholarships were raised through John’s Pasta Party and donations. In honor of their son, John Dressler, the Pasta Party was held at the McCown school. These scholarships allow students with cancer to return to the classroom.
Rosemarie Dressler stated, “During the course of my son’s treatment, it became apparent that a handful of doctors and nurses at Memorial Sloan Kettering Medical Center, NYU Langone Medical Center, and Staten Island University Hospital had that special something that distinguished them from a pool of dedicated and very capable health care providers. While the scholarship was named in memory of my son, it was inspired by these exceptional caring professionals who I learned were cancer survivors. One of my prayers is that we give hope to students battling this disease so they continue to work to realize their dreams.”
Congratulations to all the recipients!
