Eustacia “Staci” Weist, Commander and Chief of Vessel Inspections for the Port of New York and New Jersey, US Coast Guard, addressed the members of the South Shore Rotary during a recent luncheon meeting.
Commander Weist is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and environmental compliance of more than 900 cargo, industrial and passenger vessels in one of the nation’s busiest and most economically important port complexes.
Prior to Sector New York, Commander Weist worked as the International Maritime Organization Coordinator for the USA, working closely with Coast Guard, Interagency and private/public sector experts to develop consistent with international standards for shipping.
In 2020 she was named to an international list of the ‘Top 100 Women in Shipping,’ for her work in developing first of its kind ethics guidelines at the International Maritime Organization.
