The South Shore Rotary John Dressler Scholarship
The John Dressler Scholarship, presented by the South Shore Rotary, supports students who are battling or recovering from cancer as they pursue their education. It’s more than just financial support — it’s a powerful message:

This scholarship was created in memory of John Dressler, a lifelong resident of Eltingville, Staten Island, whose resilience, warmth, and courage touched all who knew him.
John’s journey was deeply shaped by the extraordinary healthcare professionals who cared for him — individuals who had that something extra. Among an already exceptional group, it was the cancer care providers who stood out — not only for their medical expertise, but for their compassion, their humanity, and the unwavering support they offered John and his family. Their impact helped inspire this scholarship.
Today, the John Dressler Scholarship honors that spirit by supporting courageous young people facing cancer with the strength, determination, and hope that defined John’s life.
